Windows 10 will soon be upon us (JULY 29), But many of my clients are still a little confused about it, So I thought I'd give you guys a few updates.
* WHEN , AND HOW MUCH?
July 29 is now being touted as the official release date by the Microsoft boffins. It will be a FREE release for the first 12 mnths providing you are currently running a legal copy of win 7, 8 or 8.1. After the initial 12 mnth period it will cost you $119 or $199 for PRO (US Dollars).
* WILL IT RUN ON MY WINDOWS TABLET?
* WHAT ABOUT THE START MENU?
If you hated Windows 8's full-screen Start screen, you're in luck: the new Start menu harkens back to the good old days, sitting on the left side of the screen and presenting that familiar pop-up column of shortcuts. And if you liked Windows 8's approach, there's something here for you too: the new menu will incorporate Live Tiles and can be customized.
* IS INTERNET EXPLORER STILL AROUND?
Yes and no. Internet Explorer will remain a part of Windows for compatibility reasons, but it's been replaced by a brand new browser, called Microsoft Edge. (Currently called project Spartan in the beta build of WIN 10), The browser will offer all of the amenities we've come to expect from modern browsers, including support for extensions, a reading mode that strips websites down to their bare essentials, and a new rendering engine that's appreciably zippy while you're browsing the web.
* WILL MY MACHINE RUN WINDOWS 10?
Most likely. If you are currently running WIN 7 - 8, then there's a good chance that your machine will happily run WIN 10. I would suggest however, that you wait a few mnths before you upgrade to give MICROSOFT a chance to iron out any initial bugs.
Hope this helps
See you next time
